The SKF housing range covers both housings and mounted units, and it pays to tell them apart before you ask for a replacement. Here you will find SNL, SAF, SNH and SONL split pillow block housings, FNL housings, Y-bearing units with inserts, and accessories. The series name tells you the product line, but not every component fitted inside or around the housing.
On a split housing, note the housing marking and the bearing marking separately. List any sleeve, nut, end covers or seals as their own line items. With insert units, say whether you need the complete unit or only the insert bearing, since those are two different items. If the marking is worn or incomplete, photos of the base and the shaft opening help fill the gap.
Before we compare an alternate part number, gather the shaft diameter, the mounting dimensions and a sketch of the assembly. Tell us which end of the machine it sits on and what the application is. Identify each accessory by its marking or point to it in a photo of the assembly. Two housings that look alike do not always share the same components.
