A bearing with a tapered bore does not go straight onto the shaft. It sits on a sleeve, and the sleeve is what clamps onto a plain shaft. That way the shaft needs no machined bearing seats, and the bearing can come off later without destroying anything.
Adapter sleeves in the H, HE, HA and HS series are the standard solution: tapered outside, straight bore inside, and drawn up with a nut so the bearing can be locked anywhere along the shaft. Withdrawal sleeves in the AH and AHX series work the other way around: they are used where the bearing sits against a shaft shoulder and has to be pulled from the outboard side. Hydraulic sleeves, OH and AOH, include an internal groove for injecting oil under pressure; on large shafts that is the only sensible way to mount and remove the bearing without heating it.
KM lock nuts and MB lock washers finish the assembly. The washer keeps vibration from backing the nut off, and it is the part most often left out when an installation is rushed.
We also carry friction bushings: plain bearings for spots where a rolling bearing will not fit, or where speed is too low to justify one. They run on a film of lubricant instead of rolling elements.
Sleeve and bearing designations go together: give us the bearing designation and we can identify the matching sleeve.
