Leaf chains

A leaf chain is a stack of plates (leaves) held together by pins, with no rollers or bushings. It works in tension only and at low speed, lifting and balancing loads on forklifts and lift trucks, in machine tool counterweights, in hoisting mechanisms and in material handling equipment. It connects to the load through end fittings or anchors and runs over sheaves or guide wheels made for it.

In the TSUBAKI range, AL is the light series. AL 1022, AL 1044 and AL 1066 share one size and differ in the number of leaves per link: the more leaves, the higher the load capacity. AL 1222, AL 1244 and AL 1266 follow the same pattern in another size. Because the numeric block packs both the size and the lacing, order with the complete part number.

To choose one, compare the working load with the breaking load using a generous safety factor, since these chains often hold suspended loads. Check the size, lacing, length in links, end fittings and sheaves. They need regular lubrication and wear elongation checks so they are replaced in time. Where two chains work side by side, as on a forklift mast, replace both together so they share the load evenly.
