SAF split pillow block housings

SAF housings are cast-iron split pillow blocks built for self-aligning bearings, typically mounted on an adapter sleeve. Removing the cap gives you the bearing without taking down the shaft or the drive, which makes service easier on equipment that runs continuously. They are a common choice for medium and large shafts.

SKF part numbers in this line start with FSAF, as in FSAF 216, FSAF 218, FSAF 220, FSAF 22216 or FSAF 22517. The number that follows tells you the housing size and the bearing it takes, not the shaft diameter, so for a replacement give us the complete part number and the bearing currently installed. Extra letters and digits on variants define the design, and we always quote them with the base part number.

To choose the housing, settle the bearing and adapter sleeve, shaft diameter, base mounting, seal type and operating environment. Typical duty: conveyors, mills, pumps, fans, mixers and process machinery, where loads run high and every hour of downtime costs money. End covers and locating rings complete the unit, depending on how the arrangement must be positioned axially.
