A torque limiter is a safety coupling. It passes torque up to a preset value; when a jam, shock or blockage pushes the load past that point, it slips or disengages so the motor, gearbox, chain and machine are spared. It goes between the motor and the driven load, or inside a sprocket or pulley, and caps the force that reaches the most vulnerable parts of the drive.
There are three working principles. Friction limiters slip and resume driving once the load falls. Ball or detent limiters disengage and then reengage. Shear pin limiters break, and the pin is replaced. TSUBAKI part numbers combine series and number, as in TGM20, TGM200, TL10-C and TL200-1C; the trailing letters mark a variant, so never shorten them.
Selection starts from the trip torque, set above normal operating torque and below what the protected parts can take. Then check shaft diameter, speed, how often overloads happen, whether it must disengage fully or keep slipping, automatic or manual reset, allowable misalignment and the space you have for it. Common applications include conveyors, mixers, mills, presses, pumps, and farm and packaging machines.
We quote TSUBAKI torque limiters. Send the complete part number on WhatsApp, or the application data (power, RPM, target trip torque and shaft diameters), and we'll get back to you promptly.
Dimensions and tolerances: Message us the part number on WhatsApp and we'll verify its dimensions and version with the manufacturer's datasheet.
