SKF OH hydraulic adapter sleeves: designations

SKF OH sleeves are adapter sleeves for large bearings, built for the oil injection method. Ducts and grooves let you pump pressurized oil between the sleeve and the bearing bore. The oil film keeps the surfaces apart, so parts too big to move with a spanner wrench can be mounted and removed. You find them in mills, large fans, paper machines and other heavy equipment.

Reading an OH designation

In OH 2344 H and OH 3044 H, the leading letters identify the series with oil ducts, and the digits point to the bearing the sleeve carries, giving dimension series and size rather than shaft diameter. The trailing H identifies the nut and locking execution, and there is more than one: OH 3144 HTL is another variant for the same bore size.

Like a small sleeve, the assembly is made up of sleeve, nut and locking device; what differs is the scale and the method. Copy the entire designation, because two sleeves for the same bearing can differ only in the final letters and still not share a thread.

Tools and procedure

To use the ducts you need an oil injection pump with gauge and fittings, and usually a hydraulic nut that pushes the bearing while the oil keeps the surfaces apart. The sleeve's connection threads have to match your equipment, or you use adapters.

You control the fit by measuring the bearing's axial drive-up on the taper or the reduction in internal clearance, not by pump pressure. Once done, release the pressure and let the oil drain before removing the hydraulic nut and installing the final locking. For removal, inject oil and the bearing breaks free; set up a stop so it cannot fly off.

Information for a quote

Send the full designation and the quantity, along with the bearing designation, the actual shaft diameter and the housing it sits in. Tell us what injection equipment you have, its connection threads, and whether you also need the hydraulic nut. For a replacement, a photo of the sleeve end where the connections are helps confirm the variant.

Can I mount it without an oil pump?

At these sizes we advise against it. The sleeve is designed for the injection method.

What separates OH from H sleeves?

Both do the same job. OH adds oil ducts and is meant for large sizes.

Do the digits give the shaft diameter?

No, they relate to the bearing. Measure the shaft to confirm it.

Key series

SKF Hydraulic Sleeve OH..H Series

For tapered bore bearings, the SKF OH..H hydraulic sleeve provides a controlled way to seat and release the bearing using oil pressure. This helps maintenance teams work with the required interference fit while limiting stress on the shaft and bearing.

Example part numbers:OH 2344 HOH 2352 HOH 2356 HOH 3040 HOH 3044 H

SKF OH HTL Hydraulic Sleeve

The SKF OH HTL hydraulic sleeve is a tool for installing and removing bearings with a tapered bore. It uses oil pressure to reduce the force needed and to protect both the bearing and the shaft. Maintenance workshops that value precision and care will find it a practical choice.

Example part numbers:OH 3144 HTL
