HJ angle rings from SKF for cylindrical roller bearings

An SKF HJ angle ring is a separate L-section part that sits next to the inner ring of a cylindrical roller bearing. It supplies a flange the bearing lacks, so the arrangement can locate the shaft axially. It is not a bearing and never works on its own: it always pairs with one specific bearing and is ordered with it or by that bearing's designation.

The HJ ring and its bearing

An angle ring designation mirrors the bearing's. HJ 208 EC is the ring for size 208 bearings of that variant, and HJ 212 EC for size 212. The letters after the number have to match the bearing's, because each ring suits one particular internal design.

If the designation adds a block after a slash, as HJ 312 EC/VA301 does, it goes with bearings of that same variant. HJ 1076 is from a different dimension series, for large bearings. A ring of another size or variant will not seat properly against the inner ring, even with a matching bore.

What the ring adds

With a plain inner ring, a cylindrical roller bearing lets the shaft shift lengthwise both ways. Adding an angle ring limits that movement in one direction. When the inner ring already has a flange on one side, the angle ring covers the other side and the bearing locates the shaft in both directions. You get axial location without changing the bearing.

The ring must bear against the inner ring and be held on its other side by a shoulder, a nut or a spacer. Its axial load capacity is limited: it guides the shaft and is not meant for a heavy, steady thrust. Where thrust is high, the position calls for a different bearing type.

Getting an HJ ring quoted

Send the ring designation and quantity. If you don't have it, the full designation of the cylindrical roller bearing it pairs with, every letter included, will do. Tell us which machine it goes on and whether the shaft has to be located in one direction or both. That lets us confirm whether a ring fits the case and which one.

Does an HJ ring fit any bearing of the same size?

No. The variant has to match as well, and that shows in the designation letters.

Can it take axial load?

It guides the shaft and handles moderate axial loads, but it is no substitute for a thrust bearing.

Can I add one to a bearing that is already installed?

Yes, as long as there is room on the shaft and an abutment to hold it on the opposite side.

Key series

SKF HJ EC Angle Ring for NU Bearings

The SKF HJ EC angle ring is an auxiliary part that fits onto the inner ring of NU series cylindrical roller bearings. It keeps the rollers in place axially, makes assembly easier, and can accommodate small axial loads in one direction. Manufactured to precise tolerances and heat treated for wear resistance, it is a practical choice for applications that need axial guidance and are taken apart often.

SKF HJ Angle Ring for Cylindrical Rollers

The SKF HJ angle ring is a component that fits onto the inner ring of a cylindrical roller bearing. Its role is to guide and retain the rollers while allowing axial loads in a single direction. You will find it in gearboxes, machine tools and other industrial equipment that demands both high radial capacity and axial control. MR Industrial Accessories LLC supplies this line as a brand.
