The Gates B 218 PowerBand is a banded V-belt in the Hi-Power PowerBand series, with a length of 5537 mm. It is built for drives where multiple V-belts run in parallel and must stay aligned under load. Before fitting a new belt, inspect the drive and sheaves.
Check sheave grooves for wear, rust, or embedded debris that can cut the belt. Confirm the sheaves are aligned and the grooves match the belt profile. A worn or misaligned sheave will shorten the life of any new banded V-belt.
Inspect the driven and driver shafts for play, and verify that the take-up adjustment has enough travel for the new belt. Clean the grooves and remove any burrs or sharp edges. If the old belt failed early, correct the drive condition before installing the replacement.
