The DBH 9429 is a radial shaft seal, the type of lip seal that keeps oil or grease on one side of a rotating shaft and keeps dust and water out. Its seat calls for a 38 mm shaft, a 90 mm housing bore and an 8 mm height, in the Lx design. It presses into crankcases, covers and gearboxes, and it is treated as a wear part: once it starts leaking, the usual fix is to replace it by size.
