Slew drives

A slew drive (or slewing drive) comes as one assembly ready to bolt in: the slewing ring, the worm that rotates it and the housing that encloses both. It handles axial load, radial load and tilting moment together, and thanks to the worm gear reduction all it needs is an electric or hydraulic motor. You will find slew drives on solar trackers, aerial work platforms, cranes, special machinery and automated equipment.

Tecma Drive builds eight families. The TD-E standard drive accepts a motor at either end of the worm, has a cataphoresis-coated housing and is sealed to IP65, with IP66 as an option. The reinforced drive has extra mounting holes that spread the load into the structure, plus a hexagon so you can turn it by hand during setup or in an emergency. In the double worm version two worms mesh with one ring, which cuts backlash and raises the load the teeth can carry. The open version has no closed housing and is intended for indoor installations, while the double-row ball version is stiffer against tilting moment. Rounding out the range: a lightweight anodized aluminum drive for aerial platforms, the TV vertical solar drive for vertical-axis trackers, and the SealTech execution, with HNBR seals and protective treatments for very severe duty.

Tecma Drive part numbers begin with TD followed by letters and digits, for example TD-E14-RL, TD-W17-RA, TD-2-E19-RL or TD-O-14-LA. Give us the full part number exactly as it reads on the nameplate, because two drives that differ only in the last characters cannot be swapped. For a new application, begin with the tilting moment, the axial and radial loads, the output torque and the rotation speed your equipment requires; then choose the motor, the protection rating and the corrosion protection that suit the operating environment.
