In this catalog, SKF power transmission products are split into belts, chains, sheaves and pulleys, sprockets, couplings and the parts that fix them to the shaft. Begin by deciding whether you are dealing with a belt drive, a chain drive or a shaft-to-shaft coupling. Each leads to a different line, so you avoid matching a part number by looks without knowing which system it belongs to.
Timing belts, V-belts, polyurethane belts and multi-rib belts each have their own page. For chains and sprockets, keep both parts identified as one drive. Sheaves and taper bushings may carry separate part numbers as well: knowing the sheave part number does not tell you which bushing holds it on the shaft.
To duplicate an existing drive, send legible markings from each component and a photo of the whole assembly. Include the machine, the shafts being connected, the quantity and the measurements you have verified. On a belt, copy the full printed designation; on a coupling, say which parts you need. If you plan to change the drive, send the equipment documentation so we can handle that review separately from a like-for-like replacement.
