SKF PHG Poly-V belts in PJ, PK, PL and PM profiles

An SKF Poly-V belt is a flat belt with ribs running along its inner face. It drives through friction the way a V-belt does, but as one band that wraps small-diameter pulleys and handles high speeds. It carries the same PHG prefix as other SKF belts; rib count, profile and length are what set each one apart.

Rib count, profile and length

Take PHG 3PJ330: 3 is the rib count, PJ the profile and 330 the length. PHG 6PK1000 has six ribs in PK profile. The profile sets the rib pitch and the belt height. PJ is the smallest of the group, then PK, PL and PM, as in PHG 8PL2705 and PHG 10PM3010.

Same profile and same length with a different rib count means a different part number, since the width changes. If the old belt has no legible marking, measure the distance between two adjacent ribs to identify the profile, and count the ribs. Record both before you measure length.

Matching the belt to its pulleys

A Poly-V belt runs on pulleys grooved for the same profile. The belt can have as many ribs as the pulley has grooves, or fewer, but never more: a rib riding outside the pulley breaks and tears the rest. Pulley alignment is more critical than with V-belts because the belt is wide and thin.

These belts are common on machines where one belt drives several accessories with an automatic tensioner. If the belt squeals or frays along one edge, inspect the tensioner and idlers before blaming the belt. If the ribs look glazed or cracked, check the pulley grooves as well; they wear at the same pace.

What to send for a Poly-V quote

Send the full PHG part number and the quantity. Without one, tell us the rib count, the rib pitch, the measured length and the overall width. Add how many grooves the pulleys have and the diameter of the smallest one. Let us know the machine, whether it uses an automatic tensioner and whether the last belt lasted as long as expected; that can reveal an alignment issue before you reorder.

Can I run a belt with fewer ribs?

It will fit the pulley but transmit less. Stay with the original rib count unless the equipment allows otherwise.

Do PJ and PK belts share a pulley?

No. Each profile has its own rib pitch and needs matching grooves.

Is the final number the length in millimeters?

For these part numbers, yes. Confirm by measuring the belt you removed.

Key series

SKF Poly-V Belt PJ Profile PHG Series

Poly-V belts in the SKF line with PJ profile transmit torque through a ribbed cross-section that keeps the flexibility of a flat belt while adding the grip of a V-belt. That combination suits drives where space is limited and speeds are high, including pumps, fans, compressors and machine tools. MR Industrial Accessories supplies these belts in a range of rib counts and lengths so a replacement can be matched to the drive on your equipment.

SKF Poly-V Belts PK Profile

SKF Poly-V belts with PK profile are used in drives that need to transmit power quietly at high speed and with significant speed ratios. They merge the suppleness of a flat belt with the strength of a V-belt. We supply these belts in multiple rib counts and lengths so they fit multi-rib pulleys. For a quote, just share the code marked on the old belt.

SKF Poly-V Belts PL Profile

For facilities that rely on compact, quiet belt drives, SKF Poly-V belts in PL profile offer a ribbed inner face that grips multiple pulley grooves at once. MR Industrial Accessories supplies this line to maintenance teams and purchasing departments throughout the United States and Latin America, and can help you match the exact reference to your equipment.
