K 14X18X13 is a radial assembly. Its three numbers give the diameter of the shaft the needles roll on, the housing bore and the cage width. K 6X9X8 TN reads the same way and adds suffix letters. Subtract the first number from the second and you get twice the needle diameter: nothing else sits between shaft and housing.
AXK 1024 is an axial assembly whose four digits combine bore and outside diameter, and it runs between two flat faces. If those faces are not hardened, add washers: AS 1024 is the thin washer for that size, while LS 1226 comes from the thicker washer series. The cage assembly and the washers are ordered as separate items using the same size number.
With no rings, the bearing's precision depends on the shaft and the housing. Both must be hardened, ground and held to the tolerance the manufacturer specifies, because those dimensions set the operating clearance. A shaft worn by just a few hundredths changes that clearance, and the cage starts to knock.
The cage also needs side guidance, from a shoulder, a washer or a retaining ring on each side, with a little clearance. If it rubs on a rough or burred face, it wears along the side. On axial assemblies, both support faces have to be parallel to each other and square to the shaft.
List the full designation and quantity of every part, with the cage assembly and the washers as separate lines. If there is no part number, measure the shaft diameter, housing bore and width for radial assemblies, or the bore, outside diameter and thickness for axial ones.
