A double row deep groove ball bearing carries two rows of balls in deep raceways. It takes radial load plus axial load in either direction and carries more than a single row bearing with the same diameters, in exchange for extra width. It makes sense when the shaft needs stiffness and capacity and you'd rather not step up to a heavier bearing section.
Take 4200 ATN9: 42 is the series, and from size 04 up the last two digits times 5 give the bore, while the smallest sizes run 10 mm for 00 and 12 mm for 01. That makes 4204 ATN9 a 20 mm bore. TN9 stands for a polyamide cage. By the same rule, 4202 ATN9 has a 15 mm bore and 4203 ATN9 a 17 mm bore.
Applications include gearboxes, machine tools, drive equipment, pumps and fans, where combined loads are high and axial space is tight. Check the width before you choose: with two rows, the bearing is wider than a single row deep groove bearing with the same outside diameter, and the housing has to have room for it.
