SD split pillow block housings

An SD split pillow block housing comes apart into a base and a cap that hold the bearing on the shaft and carry the load in rotating machinery. Lift the cap and you can remove or install the bearing without pulling the whole shaft, which shortens maintenance work. Size it by shaft diameter, bearing type and size, and the load and speed of the machine.

SKF part numbers here follow the series logic. In SD 3138, the number tells you the housing size and the bearing it takes, not the shaft diameter. Some part numbers are written straight in dimensions instead, such as SD 16X24X3, SD 25X32X4 or SD 30X40X4, where the values separated by X are millimeters. Either way, the full part number defines the part, and we quote it exactly as written.

You'll see these housings on conveyors, mills, pumps, fans and power transmission equipment, often in dusty or damp areas with moderate to heavy loads, where the unit has to be tough and quick to service. When selecting, confirm the bearing it holds, the mounting position, how it bolts to the base and the seal the environment calls for.
