Bearing housing covers and accessories

Covers and accessories finish off a bearing housing. They close its end, stop dust, water and process material from getting in, and set where the bearing sits inside the housing. A retaining ring, for instance, either holds the bearing axially or leaves it free to float with thermal expansion. None of these parts is universal: each series is made for the geometry of one specific housing.

Part numbers in this line include SKF's ECB 504, ECB 505, ECL 204 and ECL 205, and Timken's SR160X12.5, SR180X12 or SR200X17.5. On the SKF parts, the letters name the type of part and the number tells you which housing it fits; on the SR rings, the figures separated by X are dimensions in millimeters. The part must match the housing you already have in service or the one you are about to install, so we quote against the complete part number.

To pick the right one, define the housing type and size, the shaft diameter, the axial location your arrangement needs and the operating environment. Typical uses include conveyors, elevators, mills, mixers, pumps and industrial fans, where the cover keeps the bearing in place and dirt out of the housing.
