The SKF TKRS series is a portable stroboscope that uses adjustable light flashes to make rotating equipment appear stationary. This optical tool lets maintenance teams examine pulleys, couplings, fans and drives while they are still running, so faults can be spotted without shutting down the line.

The TKRS code is built from letters and numbers. The letters identify the series, the digits indicate the model or performance range, and any suffix shows a specific configuration. For example, TKRS 20-S1 is a unit from the TKRS series with the -S1 variant. When selecting a model, review the complete part number and check the manufacturer's specifications for the functions and accessories that come with each version.

Stroboscopes are used in food processing, cement, petrochemical, automotive and power generation plants, among others. They help inspect induced draft fans, centrifugal pumps, conveyor belts, mixers and electric motors without stopping production. They also serve to verify rotation speed, check belt and pulley wear, and detect imbalances or eccentricities. Freezing motion visually reveals problems that would otherwise go unnoticed.

When choosing a stroboscope, consider the frequency range you need, the light intensity and the battery life. In use, adjust the flash frequency until the moving part looks static. A doubled or unstable image can mean an incorrect speed setting or a mechanical issue. Aim the light beam directly at the component for better accuracy, and work in controlled lighting to see details more clearly.

SKF stroboscopes can replace other speed measuring instruments such as contact or photoelectric tachometers, though each has its own field of application. If you are looking for equivalences with other brands, check that the frequency range and resolution match the task. Part numbers are not interchangeable; only the performance characteristics may be similar. For a replacement, compare technical specifications and consult a specialist.
