Description
SKF N 08 belongs to lock nut, part of our Bushings and sleeves range. Tell us how many you need by WhatsApp or email and we'll get back to you promptly with a quote for N 08 and any equivalents.
For machinery and housings built to North American dimensions, SKF N series lock nuts provide the inch-thread solution. These nuts hold a bearing in place on a tapered adapter sleeve or against a shaft shoulder, and a W series lock washer of the same number keeps them from backing off.
The number after the N tells you the thread size, and it matches the washer number directly: an N 10 nut takes a W 10 washer. When you tighten the nut, it pushes the bearing onto the adapter sleeve or up against the shaft shoulder. The lock washer has tabs; you bend one into a slot on the nut to prevent loosening under vibration.
Mounting requires a hook spanner of the right size. Do not use a punch and hammer, because that damages the slots and makes it impossible to retighten the nut properly. On adapter sleeve mounts, the amount you tighten the nut sets the bearing's final internal clearance, so it is best to follow the tightening angle specified by the bearing manufacturer.
Whenever you replace a bearing, plan to replace the lock washer as well. A tab that has already been bent once is weaker. The nut itself can be reused if the thread and slots are still in good shape.
To get a quote, send the full nut designation through WhatsApp, or give us the adapter sleeve or bearing it will secure. We will confirm which nut and washer you need.

- What information do I need to request a quote?
- Send us the complete nut designation via WhatsApp, or the designation of the adapter sleeve it will secure. We will reply promptly.
