The Movendis PP-585-5M-480 is a curvilinear timing belt in the HTD 5M profile with a 585 mm length and 5 mm pitch, part of the PowerPlus line we carry. Before you fit it, take a few minutes on the drive itself. A new belt on worn or misaligned components will not run the way it should.

Start with the sheaves. Check the grooves for wear, corrosion and embedded debris, since a hooked or polished groove profile lets the teeth sit incorrectly and changes how the belt tracks. Confirm the sheaves are clean and dry, and that the flanges are not bent or rubbing. Look at the shaft bearings and the structure around them at the same time; movement here shows up as belt wear later.

Then check alignment and tension. Set parallel and angular alignment between the two sheaves so the belt runs centered rather than against one flange. Confirm the take-up range still allows correct tension for an HTD 5M belt, and that any idler or tensioner turns freely without play. If the old belt failed at the edge or showed uneven tooth wear, that points to the drive rather than the belt.
