The Gummi VN is a jaw-type semi-elastic coupling that connects two shafts through an elastic element held by a steel ring. It transmits torque while compensating for misalignment and reducing vibration. The design pairs a jaw hub with a ring-carrier hub. The VN series includes sizes VN 170, VN 200, VN 240, VN 300, VN 350, VN 400, VN 450 and VN 500. The VND version adds an extra hub, and the VNDD has additional hubs on both sides. All share the same working principle: a jaw hub, a ring-carrier hub, an elastic element between them and a steel ring that keeps the assembly together.
Typical applications are centrifugal pumps, compressors, fans, conveyor belts, mixers, mills and general transmission equipment. These drives need to accommodate some shaft misalignment and dampen vibration while still transmitting torque. The coupling is common in food, chemical, petrochemical and water treatment plants, as well as in pumping and compressed air installations.
