The BR TLB couplings from Gummi are part of the BR line of elastic couplings. Their hubs accept a Taper Lock taper bushing, which is not supplied with the coupling. These couplings connect shafts in power transmission systems and help absorb misalignment and vibration. MR Industrial Accessories supplies them.

The BR TLB design uses an elastic center positioned between two hubs. It transfers torque while damping load fluctuations. In the TLB version, each hub is made to receive a Taper Lock taper bushing, so the bore is left unmachined and the shaft fit is achieved through the bushing. Model codes combine the line letters and a size: BR-100 TLB, BR-110 TLB, BR-150 TLB, BR-160 TLB and BR-180 TLB.

Typical applications include centrifugal pumps, fans, blowers, conveyor belts, mixers and process equipment. These machines require torque transmission with some tolerance to misalignment. The coupling also acts as a mechanical fuse between the motor and the driven machine.

When selecting a size, begin with the machine torque and apply the service factor for the load type. Then compare each shaft diameter with the maximum bore and the matching taper bushing. Maximum permissible speed goes down as size goes up, so check the operating rpm against that limit. Before final assembly, verify shaft alignment. During maintenance, inspect the elastic center.
