Before fitting a Gates BB 123 Hi-Power Dubl-V belt, inspect the drive and sheaves. This double-V (hexagonal) belt has a BB profile and a length of 3195 mm. The same size is also listed under Optibelt BB 123.
Check sheave grooves for wear, rust, or embedded debris. Worn grooves can let a new belt sit too deep, causing slip and heat. Confirm sheave alignment with a straightedge or laser so the belt runs true. Verify that the sheaves match the BB profile.
Inspect the drive for damaged bearings, bent shafts, or loose mounts. Correct any misalignment or worn components before installing the belt. Clean the grooves and check that the belt sits correctly in the sheave. A double-V belt drives from both sides, so both sheave sets must be in good condition.
After fitting, check belt tension according to your drive requirements. Recheck tension after the first hours of operation. Keep the drive area free of oil, dust, and debris. For a quote on the Gates BB 123, send the part number by WhatsApp or email.
