The DBH 9817 is a radial shaft seal that keeps lubricant in and contaminants out of rotating equipment. It mounts on a shaft and presses into a housing bore, with an A 308 profile and a stepped height of 13 to 16 mm. This makes it a fit for gearboxes, pumps and similar machinery where axial room is tight. We supply it as part of our seals and oil seals range for maintenance and replacement work.

The seal carries the DBH code 9817. From the product data, it fits a shaft of 50 mm and a housing bore of 66.5 mm, with a height of 13.00/16.00 mm and an A 308 design. The dual height points to a profile that has a mounting section plus a stepped lip, so the lip stays in even contact with the shaft while the outer part seats in the housing.

You will find seals like this in gearboxes, centrifugal pumps, electric motors, rollers and transmission equipment, wherever oil or grease has to be kept apart from the surroundings. They also suit areas with splashing, dust or steam, where the lip has to block contamination without adding too much friction. As a wear part, it is typically changed at each teardown or as soon as leakage appears.

During installation, make sure the shaft contact area is free of burrs and marks and that the housing is clean and undented. Coat the lip with the same oil or grease used in the machine before fitting, and drive the seal in with a tube or press that pushes on the outer diameter, not the lip. If the shaft is worn, a seal with an auxiliary lip may be the better choice.
