Code 9276 from the DBH line is a lipped radial shaft seal: it keeps lubricant inside rotating equipment and keeps dust, water and other contaminants out. The A 103-Bidi design has two lips, so it seals in both directions. Its sizes are shaft 35 mm, housing 54 mm and height 10.00/15.00 mm. You will find this type of seal in gear reducers, pumps, motors and transmissions, where a turning shaft passes through a fixed housing. How the seal works: the lip rides against the rotating shaft while the outside diameter sits press-fitted in the housing bore. Because the 9276 has a double-lip A 103-Bidi design, it holds up better where splash, steam or fine particles are present than a single-lip seal would. It is a wear part, so it is normally replaced during a rebuild or when a leak appears.

Where it is used: gearboxes, centrifugal pumps, electric motors, conveyor rollers and transmission shafts are the usual spots. In every case the job is the same: stop oil or grease from escaping and block dust, water or debris from getting in. Washing equipment and wet areas are also common, thanks to the second lip.

Fitting notes: the shaft should be clean, with no burrs, scoring or rust ridges, and the housing bore free of dents or old seal residue. Coat the lip with the same oil or grease the equipment runs on before you press it in. Drive it with a tube or spacer that contacts the metal case only, never hit the lip directly. If the shaft surface is worn, an auxiliary lip version may be the better choice. Speed, temperature and lubricant type all affect which seal fits best.
