Description

DBH 9227/85 belongs to radial shaft seal, part of our Seals range. Tell us how many you need by WhatsApp or email and we'll get back to you promptly with a quote for 9227/85 and any equivalents.

A radial shaft seal known as the DBH 9227/85 keeps oil or grease from escaping the gap between a turning shaft and its bore. Its working envelope is a 30.00 mm shaft, a 42.00 mm housing and an 8.50 mm height, built to the A 016 design. Because the lip wears against the shaft over time, leakage is the usual signal that the part has reached the end of its service life.

Reading the designation: 9227/85 is the DBH reference, while the numbers that decide whether the seal will fit are 30.00 mm for the shaft (d), 42.00 mm for the housing (D) and 8.50 mm for the height (h). The A 016 design describes a single sealing lip carried in a metal case, with an elastomeric lip and a spring that keeps pressure on the shaft. Those figures and that geometry together define the seat. A shaft or bore outside them means no sealing.

You will find seals of this type in gearboxes, pumps, electric motors, rollers and transmission equipment, wherever a shaft rotates and lubricant has to stay where it belongs. Agricultural machinery, conveyors and process equipment also use them. The job is always the same: hold the oil or grease in and keep dust, water and particles out of the bearing or gear set.

Before fitting, look over the shaft for burrs or wear marks where the lip will ride, and make sure the housing is clean and not deformed. Put a film of lubricant on the lip, then seat the seal square to the shaft rather than driving it in from one side. If the shaft carries a step or groove, the lip has to sit on an unbroken surface. Choose the part by the d, D and h values and by the design; a seal of a different height should not go in without checking the seat first.

For an equivalent, send the code 9227/85 together with the shaft, housing and height dimensions, plus a photo or sketch of the housing. That lets us search the same category or another brand while keeping the design and lip type. Where the original is not available, a compatible standard size can be reviewed, with the fit confirmed before anything is installed.

MR Industrial Accessories supplies the DBH brand within its seals and oil seals range. To request a quote, message us on WhatsApp or by email with the code 9227/85 and the shaft and housing dimensions, and we will come back with the option and the technical confirmation of the replacement.

Frequently asked questions

How do I ask for an equivalent?
Send the code 9227/85, the shaft, housing and height dimensions, and a photo of the housing by WhatsApp or email. We then look for a compatible alternative in the same category or from another brand and confirm the fit before installation.
What should I check before installing it?
Check that the shaft has no burrs or wear in the lip area and that the housing is clean. Lubricate the lip, seat the seal square to the shaft and avoid striking it from the side, which can deform the case.
What are the dimensions of the DBH 9227/85 oil seal?
It runs on a 30.00 mm shaft, with a 42.00 mm housing and an 8.50 mm height. The design is A 016. Those three dimensions define the seat: if the shaft or housing do not match, the seal will not seal correctly.
