The DBH 8898 is a single-lip radial shaft seal used to close the gap where a rotating shaft passes through a housing. It keeps oil or grease on the lubricated side and blocks dust, water and particles from reaching the bearing area. The seal is press-fitted into covers, gearboxes, pumps and motors, and its lip runs against the shaft with slight interference to maintain contact.

The designation 8898 is tied to three dimensions: shaft 38 mm, housing 60 mm, height 8.00 mm. The Lx design means a single sealing lip with an outer metal body, a common configuration for rotating shafts under permanent lubrication.
