The 8146 is a radial shaft seal from DBH. In the Lz design, the sealing lip and the overall construction are set up to hold lubricant in one direction. The seal sits in a machined cavity with its lip pressing radially against the rotating shaft surface, so the fit between lip and shaft is what does the sealing work.
