A radial shaft seal such as the DBH 8077Pol keeps lubricant where it belongs and keeps contaminants out. It sits press-fitted in the housing bore and rides on the rotating shaft, so the flexible lip closes the gap between the two. Small shaft movements and normal running vibration are absorbed by that lip, which is what makes the seal work in everyday industrial service.
