The BGL MB lock washer keeps KM nuts from loosening after they are tightened on an adapter sleeve. Its internal tooth sits in the shaft groove, and one of its outer tabs is bent into a notch on the nut. This simple mechanical lock preserves the axial position of bearings and other rotating parts where vibration is present.

The MB code tells you the size. Common designations include MB0 through MB7, and each one lines up with a specific shaft diameter and a matching KM nut. The standard MB washer has a straight internal tooth. BGL also offers MBL and MBA versions with the same tooth style, plus the AW series, which uses an inclined tooth for particular mounting situations.

You will find these washers in pumps, gearboxes, fans, conveyors and process equipment wherever a bearing or adapter sleeve needs to be held axially. They work as a set with KM nuts and adapter sleeves. Industries such as food processing, chemical, petrochemical and power generation rely on them in rotating machinery.

Selecting the right washer starts with two numbers: the shaft diameter and the KM nut you plan to use. The MB code has to agree with both. During installation, slide the internal tooth into the shaft groove, tighten the KM nut, then bend one tab into a notch on the nut. Make sure the tab seats correctly and does not touch other components. Standard washers are carbon steel; a stainless steel option is available for corrosive conditions.

When replacing a washer from another manufacturer, compare the key dimensions: inner diameter, outer diameter, thickness and tooth count. MB, MBL, MBA and AW series from different sources are often interchangeable, but confirming the equivalence against the original code is always the safe route. MR Industrial Accessories can help you match the washer to your assembly.

Frequently asked questions

How do I identify the correct MB washer for my shaft?
Use the shaft diameter and the KM nut number together. The MB code must correspond to both. Send us those two details and we will point you to the right washer.
What materials are available for BGL MB washers?
The standard version is carbon steel. For environments where corrosion resistance is needed, a stainless steel option exists. Let us know your operating conditions and we can discuss the material choice.
Will a BGL MB washer fit a KM nut from another brand?
In most cases, yes, provided the dimensions and tooth type match. If you are unsure, share the nut code with us and we will verify the interchangeability.
