For mounting a tapered bore bearing onto a plain shaft, the BGL HE…L adapter sleeve provides a secure, removable connection without requiring a shaft shoulder or special machining. Each unit arrives as a complete set: sleeve, lock nut, and either a lock washer or MS lock. The standard material is nodular cast iron that exceeds DIN 1563 GJS 500-7, and a carbon steel or stainless steel version is also offered.

Reading the HE…L code helps you order the right size the first time. The letters HE denote an adapter sleeve; the two digits that follow indicate the shaft diameter; the trailing L means the sleeve comes with lock nut and washer. In the HE23 series, those digits are inches: HE2324L fits a 4" shaft, HE2326L a 4 1/4" shaft. In the HE31 series, the digits are millimeters: HE3124L for 110 mm, HE3126L for 120 mm. The same pattern continues through the range.

These sleeves are found wherever a bearing must be fixed on a plain h10 shaft: conveyor belts, mills, mixers, centrifugal pumps, and industrial fans. They also appear in gearboxes and machine tools that use 22, 23, or 31 series tapered bore bearings. The design allows repeated mounting and dismounting while keeping the joint reliable and centered.

Selection begins with the shaft diameter and the bearing's tapered bore. Slide the sleeve onto the shaft and into the bearing, then tighten the lock nut against the lock washer or MS lock to create the required interference. Before tightening, verify alignment and lubricate both the thread and the tapered surface. Follow the bearing manufacturer's recommended tightening torque. After locking, the sleeve should neither rotate nor shift axially.

HE…L sleeves follow a common dimensional and thread standard, so parts from different makers can often be interchanged when the shaft diameter and part number match.
