Description
EMMAR 08-C2 belongs to roller chain, part of our Power transmission range. Tell us how many you need by WhatsApp or email and we'll get back to you promptly with a quote for 08-C2 and any equivalents.
A 08-C2 chain belongs to the BS (European) roller chain family and carries two rows of rollers instead of one. With a 1/2 inch pitch, it fits drives where a single-strand chain of the same pitch would run out of capacity, yet there is no room to widen the transmission. MR Industrial Accessories LLC supplies this size for build, replacement and retrofit work.
Reading the code helps when you order. The 08 sets the pitch at 1/2 inch, and the C2 tells you the chain has two strands. Roller diameter is 8.51 mm, and the space between the inner plates measures 7.75 mm. Because the chain follows the BS standard, those figures will not line up with an ANSI chain of similar pitch, so measure before you substitute anything.
Where does a double-strand BS chain make sense? Machine tools, conveyors, packaging lines, mixers and other low- to medium-speed drives that were built around a two-row chain. It is also the right answer when imported equipment arrives with this chain and converting to a single strand would mean changing the sprocket as well.
Two points decide whether the installation works. First, the sprocket: a C2 chain needs a double-strand sprocket, and a single-strand sprocket is not an option. Second, alignment and lubrication: when two rows of rollers share the load, axial misalignment pushes one row harder than the other, so check shaft alignment and keep the chain lubricated. If the machine came with a BS chain, confirm pitch and inner width before switching to an ANSI equivalent.
Need another strand count or a different BS pitch? Send the part number and the dimensions stamped on the equipment. If you are exploring an ANSI alternative, include the pitch and roller diameter so we can compare. Single units and larger replacement or project quantities are both welcome.
For a quote, message us on WhatsApp with 08-C2 or the full designation from the chain or the manual. Unsure about the strand count? A photo of the sprocket and a section of chain is usually enough for us to confirm the reference and lay out the options.

Frequently asked questions
- What does C2 mean in a 08-C2 chain?
- It means the chain has two parallel rows of rollers. That raises the load capacity over a single-strand chain of the same pitch, and it must run on a double-strand sprocket.
- Is an ANSI chain a direct swap for a BS chain?
- No. The two standards use different dimensions, so pitch, roller diameter and inner width should be checked against the data sheet before any substitution.
- How do I ask for an equivalent?
- Send the chain part number, pitch, strand count and a photo of the sprocket on WhatsApp. With those details we can match a BS size or review an equivalent.
