By section
A V-belt carries power from one sheave to another through friction between its sidewalls and the groove. You see them on motors, fans, pumps, compressors, mills and conveyors, where they soak up starting shock and minor misalignment and shield the shafts from load peaks. Profiles include classical (Z, A, B, C, D), narrow (3V, 5V and SPB, among others) and cogged versions that bend around small-diameter sheaves.
A V-belt part number pairs the section with the length. In PHG 3V1000, 3V is the section and the number after it is the length, which for American sections like this one is given in tenths of an inch. Dodge follows the same rule: 3VX250 is a 3VX section, the cogged version of the narrow profile, followed by its length. Trailing suffixes such as PHG 3V1000X3 or PHG 3V1060X3 separate versions with the same section and length, so send the whole part number.
Match the belt to the sheave groove section, the number of grooves and the length that the center distance gives you. A belt in the wrong section sits badly in the groove and wears out fast. On multi-belt drives, change the whole set at once with belts of equal length so the load is shared evenly. Proper tension also adds life to the belt and to the bearings in the equipment.
We carry SKF and Dodge V-belts. For a quote, send the part number printed on the side of the belt. If it has worn off, the section, length and number of grooves will do, or the sheave dimensions and center distance, and we will work out the equivalent. Reach us by WhatsApp or email and we will reply promptly.
Dimensions and tolerances: Message us the part number on WhatsApp and we'll verify its dimensions and version with the manufacturer's datasheet.
