SKF PHE couplings: hubs, flexible elements and covers

On grid couplings, PHE 1020TGGRID is the grid element, PHE 1020TGHCOVER the cover and PHE 1020TGRSB a hub. 1020 is the size, and it repeats on every component. Ordering only the grid is fine when the hubs are in good condition; a new coupling takes two hubs, the grid and the cover.

Tire couplings work the same way: PHE F40NRTYRE is the rubber element in size F40 and PHE F40RSBFLG is one of the flanges. On L series jaw couplings, the part number shows the size and the hub bore. When a hub has no finished bore or is set up for a taper bushing, the last block indicates it.

Size a coupling by the torque it must transmit and the shafts it connects, not by how large the old one looks. You need motor power and speed, the type of driven machine and both shaft diameters, which are often different. Equipment with frequent starts or shock loads needs more margin.

The flexible element is the wear part. If it keeps failing, check shaft alignment before replacing it again: a coupling tolerates slight misalignment but does not fix it. When you replace only the element, confirm the size marked on the hubs.

List the part numbers you need and the quantity of each. For a complete coupling, give type and size, both shaft diameters with their keyways and whether the hubs have a finished bore or take a taper bushing. With no part number, send power, speed, the driven machine, the gap between shaft ends and a photo of the assembled coupling.
