When radial room is scarce and loads are high, needle cages and related components are the usual answer. A needle cage (needle roller and cage assembly) is a set of needles held by a cage, with no rings: it runs straight on the shaft and in the housing bore, so both surfaces have to be hardened and ground to serve as raceways. This line also includes washers and other parts used to build thrust assemblies. You size it by shaft diameter, housing bore, width and load.
Many part numbers spell out the dimensions. In NTN's K105×112×21, the first figure is the diameter under the needles (the shaft or inner raceway), the second is the outside diameter that seats in the housing, and the third is the width. INA's K series works the same way, with K10, K100 or K105 naming the size. SKF's RC-10X10 C and RC-15X15 CD carry dimensions split by an X, and INA's AS0414 and AS0515 washers round out thrust assemblies. From NSK you will see part numbers like FBN-758120 and FWF-758130.
Common uses are gearboxes, pumps, compressors, machine tools and drive equipment that need high capacity in a small envelope. They also come in handy on repairs, where a worn cage can be swapped without replacing the whole assembly. Either way, check raceway hardness and finish, lubrication, and the shaft and housing tolerances.
